[World's first new color] Hammered & Distressed Titanium

Thank you for your continued patronage of Taylor with Respect.

Thank you very much to everyone who will be attending the exhibition this month.

We look forward to meeting you.

We have wonderful new products waiting for you, so please be careful when you come on the day.

_____

As mentioned in the title, TAYLOR WITH RESPECT will be releasing two new colors.

Both are world firsts and feature Taylor-esque coloring created through close collaboration with partner factories.

First of all,

Hammered color

As the name suggests, it has a hammered finish.

It has irregular bumps and grooves, and when light hits it, it sparkles like diffused reflection, giving it a unique presence.

The surface is treated with a clear coat, and the combination of hammered finish and clear coat gives it a glossy appearance.

This new color was recently released in advance in Taiwan and Silmo.

This hammered color has been extremely well received, and out of the five colors available, it was the one that sold the most .

Perhaps it looked that fresh, and the Taylor team is relieved that it got off to such a great start.

I am painfully aware of my limited vocabulary, but my first impression was that it was a little creepy.

Even some of Sabae's leading specialists, who have been at the forefront of eyeglass manufacturing for many years, say they have never seen a color like this before.

As designer Watari points out, it's not a color that will appeal to everyone.

However, seven years have passed since the brand was established, and I feel that it was born out of a constant search for new ways of expression, and that it is a kind of achievement that is not conventional.

It's a must-see, and we look forward to seeing you at the exhibition.

……….

Caution, caution

I forgot to mention something very important.

This hammered color is actually achieved through surface treatment .

That's why it's a world first.

The method of actually hammering to create hammered marks has been around for many years and is used by a variety of brands both domestically and internationally.

However, what TAYLOR WITH RESPECT is releasing is only a hammered color that is a surface treatment .

It is not made uneven by hammering.

There are several advantages, one of which is that a wide variety of colors can be produced due to the surface treatment.

By adding Hammered options to the color lineup we have had up until now, the range of colors that can be expressed has expanded exponentially.

The method of hammering metal to create an expression requires processing each piece by hand, which takes a lot of time and is not suitable for mass production.

Another method is to mass-produce products by applying a hammered pattern to the mold, but this means that all products will have the same pattern.

However, this expression achieved through surface treatment makes mass production possible, and because each piece has a different look, each one can be perceived as a unique piece.

Second,

Damaged soild titanium

The distressed color was introduced in the first collection, sole, in 2017, and has now become one of Taylor's signature surface treatments, but surprisingly, the brand has never applied the distressed finish to pure titanium before.

*Solid titanium is...
The metal titanium has been polished to a beautiful finish.

Since the surface is not treated with any precious metals, the allergy-free properties inherent to titanium are fully utilized.

Titanium is an allergy-free material that has become commonplace in the eyewear industry in recent years, but in many cases it is plated with precious metals.

Perhaps as a remnant of its jewelry-related origins, precious metals such as gold and silver have been used to color the pieces, rather than leaving them as they are, to make them look more beautiful.

Although aesthetically pleasing, some people have metal allergies to the plated parts and are unable to wear them.

This time, we have introduced a product that can be worn by such people with peace of mind and that incorporates Taylor's identity .

It is made of "solid titanium x damaged processing" .

The plating does not peel off (there are no areas where it would peel off in the first place), so there is no need for repairs or worry about scratches that occur during use.

This was the first attempt by Mr. Nomura, the representative of Biso Japan, who has been working in surface treatment for 45 years, and this is undoubtedly a world first.

As we unveiled these two world-first expressions, we asked the designers to say a few words.

"The new expressions that evolve existing techniques are essential to realizing the brand's concept of 'tailoring.' This can only be realized through close communication with the people on the ground and the high motivation that comes from that."
